Manitoba Crop Alliance (MCA) supports students who are in post-secondary education programs, studying to support the agriculture industry. MCA has established a bursary intended to assist with the financial needs of students who are enrolled in a post-secondary agricultural program within the Province of Manitoba.

Manitoba Crop Alliance (MCA) is a commodity organization representing wheat (spring & winter), barley, corn, sunflower and flax farmers in the province of Manitoba. MCA strives to continuously improve the competitiveness and profitability of all crops represented by the organization through work in four key areas: research, agronomy, market development and access, and communications. With the establishment of this bursary, MCA hopes to encourage and support students studying work in or support the agriculture industry.

Bursaries valued at $2000 each are available and will be awarded to six students who:

  2. have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0;
  3. have an interest in wheat (spring or winter), corn, barley, flax or sunflower crops, or agriculture in general, as demonstrated in a brief, one-page letter;
  4. are from a farm that is a member in good-standing of Manitoba Crop Alliance (you can inquire about this at hello@mbcropalliance.ca).

Letters should be a maximum of 500 words and the applicant should include information on the following: (i) their connection to or interest in agriculture, (ii) why they decided to enroll in an agriculture-related post-secondary program, and (ii) how they hope to benefit the agriculture industry once they have graduated and are in the workforce.

The successful applicants will be announced at MCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on February 17th, 2022. They will also be featured on MCA social media accounts and in MCA newsletters, The Fence Post and Heads Up (e-newsletter) next spring.
