Corn Variety Performance Trials
MacGregor, MB
Local hybrid performance trials are managed by Manitoba Crop Alliance and conducted by third-party research contractors across Manitoba
IMPORTANT NOTES FOR THE GRAIN & SILAGE CORN TABLES
CHU RATING:Corn Heat Units (CHU) are assigned by the company per hybrid. The CHU rating is a relative maturity indicator and is one of the factors that can help when selecting a hybrid that will mature in your area. CHU is calculated using a formula that accounts for the minimum and maximum temperatures for the day. This accounts for the fact that extremely high and extremely low temperatures can negatively impact corn growth.
Silage yields are corrected to 65% moisture
Grain corn yield adjusted at 15.5% moisture.
Silage Milk per Acre was calculated using MILK2006, a model developed by the University of Wisconson Extension Service.
Beef per Acre was calculated on the assumption that one pound of beef is produced for every six pounds of TDN.
All hybrids were evaluated at a target plant population of 32,000 plants per acre.
NOTE: CV, LSD, and SIGN. DIFF. are per location and should not be used to compare hybrids at different locations.
CVThe coefficient of variation (CV) is a measure of the random variation in a trial. A smaller CV is more desirable because it indicates the variation in varieties is less likely due to random variation.
LSDHybrids must differ by the least significant difference (LSD) to be considered significantly different from one another.
SIGN. DIFFThe significant difference (Sign. Diff.) indicates if a real difference exists between hybrids at an individual location.
