Genomic tools to mitigate the adverse effects of lodging in wheat

Crop Types
  • Wheat
Collaborating Locations

Background

This project will aid in the development of long term tools for plant breeders.

Objectives

  1. Determine genomic sequences of wheat gibberellin metabolic genes and their respective homologues
  2. Determine wheat stem height/bending strength controlling genes and novel molecular variants/alleles for optimum stem height/strength
  3. Identify candidate germplasm lines with enhanced lodging resistance
