About Manitoba Crop Alliance

Manitoba Crop Alliance Inc. (MCA) is a commodity organization representing wheat (spring & winter), barley, corn, sunflower and flax farmers in the province of Manitoba. Prior to August 1, 2020, farmers who grew and marketed these crops were represented by five individual commodity groups – Manitoba Wheat and Barley Growers Association, Manitoba Corn Growers Association, National Sunflower Association of Canada, Winter Cereals Manitoba Inc. and Manitoba Flax Growers Association. On February 12 & 13, 2020, following a lengthy consultation process which began in 2018, Manitoba farmer-members of the five groups voted in favour of the special resolution to amalgamate the five previously existing organizations. Following this approval, Manitoba Crop Alliance was formed, making history in the province of Manitoba’s agriculture industry.

History

Manitoba Crop Alliance puts their farmer-members first and strives to continuously improve the competitiveness and profitability of all crops represented by the organization by focusing their work on four main areas: research, agronomy, market access and development, and communications. It is through investment in these key areas that MCA can ensure wheat, barley, corn, sunflower and flax are sustainable production choices for Manitoba farmers.
